Music Brings Life is a blood awareness organization that targets the youth within the Black American, Caribbean and Latino communities in New York City and encourages them to donate blood. These communities are terribly under served when it comes to the availability of potentially life-saving blood products and Music Brings Life holds blood drives and uses performances by influential musical artists to inspire and generate donors.
Music Brings Life, in partnership with Maimonides Medical Center, will hold the Music Brings Life Blood Awareness Summer Concert on August 29 at Brooklyn Borough Hall Plaza from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The event will be hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.
In 2010 and 2011, Mr. Markowitz hosted the annual Music Brings Life Blood Awareness Concert at Brooklyn Borough HallPlaza. Thanks to in part to the support of Mr. Markowitz, over 2,000 pints of blood were raised in total the last two years. Our goal in 2013 is to raise 5,000 pints of blood.
