Music Brings Life is a blood awareness organization that targets the youth within the Black American, Caribbean and Latino communities in New York City and encourages them to donate blood.  These communities are terribly under served when it comes to the availability of potentially life-saving blood products and Music Brings Life holds blood drives and uses performances by influential musical artists to inspire and generate donors.

Music Brings Life, in partnership with Maimonides Medical Center, will hold the Music Brings Life Blood Awareness Summer Concert on August 29 at Brooklyn Borough Hall Plaza from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The event will be hosted by Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz.

In 2010 and 2011, Mr. Markowitz hosted the annual Music Brings Life Blood Awareness Concert at Brooklyn Borough HallPlaza.  Thanks to in part to the support of Mr. Markowitz, over 2,000 pints of blood were raised in total the last two years. Our goal in 2013 is to raise 5,000 pints of blood.

Performers donating their talents at this year’s Music Brings Life Blood Awareness Summer Concert are Reggae Great Nardo Ranks performing his hit single “Them A Bleach”, 10 year’s young Caribbean Princess Devyn, Edagar T, performing “Blood of Love”, all the way from Jamaica to support the cause Stephen Souza, New York City’s rapper X.A.B, R&B Sensation Vernor, Soca Artist Trinity & The Chocolate City Labor Day Float, Famous Poet Tillman Bryant who recited a poem at the White House welcoming Barack Obama into office, and the Founder/President of Music Brings Life Keenan “SPECIAL” Bristol performing his You Tube hit “Superman 1,2,3 Away”, which is used to support the slogan HEROES DONATE BLOOD
